What is Worship like at Cumberland?

We have two different worship experiences at Cumberland Church.  Nursery is provided for each service and Sunday school classes occur during the 9:30 (children) and 11:00 (adult) hours giving you a variety of options for worship and study for your entire family.  Our Youth have their service gathering from 10:00-12:00 in the Estes center under the direction of our Youth Director.  Coffee and sweet breads are available between the services 10:30-11:00.

Our 9:30 worship service, "Classic Worship," is in our sanctuary and includes hymns accompanied by our organ, with our choir bringing an anthem and choral responses. It also includes praise choruses accompanied by piano. This service includes Bible-based responsive readings, the Lord's prayer prayed in unison. The sermon will help you better understand a portion of the Bible. This service is especially designed to meet the worship needs of those who have "grown up in the church' and enjoy the familiar sanctuary surroundings.  You will be encouraged to increase your devotion and advance your surrender to the Lord of lords!

The 11:00 worship time, "Jesus 1.0," is designed for those who have no church background or for those who appreciate the opportunity to explore the basics of walking with Jesus.  Interactive sermons, discussion and active involvement is encouraged.  This service also meets in the Cumberland Sanctuary but is much less formal in nature. Music will include keyboard, guitar, bass and drums rather than organ and choir.

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month in both services.  All who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to join us at His table.

Both of these services provide an opportunity to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth. We hope you will join us in worship this Sunday! Be sure and enjoy the coffee with us before 9:30 and between these services in Fellowship Hall.

I am looking to purchase of copy of the new Presbyterian hymnal "Glory to God". I can't find any in Christian bookstores around town. I wondered if you use this hymnal, if so, if you have an extras that I might purchase. Thank you, Scott Herrington (scott@secondb.org
