The color of the Chancel area will become red this week for Pentecost.  Red is the color of fire, so it becomes the color for Pentecost-the presence of God.  Red can also symbolize the blood of the martyrs.  The "Reredos," (the arches behind the Communion table), will also become red.

Red is used to commemorate special (Holy) days.  The Communion table is draped in red with flames along the bottom of the cloth.  The symbol on the lectern has the Celtic Cross, which is the Cumberland Presbyterian Church cross.  The symbol on the pulpit has a cross and a crown.
