The color in the Chancel area is now green for "Ordinary Time" in the church. "Ordinary Time" follows Pentecost and continues to the beginning of Advent. Green symbolizes the renewal of living things and the power of new life. The symbol on the pulpit is the Celtic Cross, which is known as the Cumberland Presbyterian Cross. The lectern has a simple cross. The Communion Table now has the "IHS" monogram which symbolizes Jesus Christ. "IHS" are the first letters of Jesus in Greek; thus it is an abbreviation of the name Jesus. The end of the "S" moves into a stylized "fish." The fish was a symbol early Christians drew in the sand so they could recognize one another.
